TE August Release Week: Hello Friend

Hello Friend by Jen Shults

Hi everyone! It’s day three of Taylored Expressions August Release Week and today I’m sharing a project using a brand new embossing folder from TE, the Ah-maze-ing Embossing Folder. This may be my new love in the embossing folder world. It’s a gorgeous light pattern that isn’t overwhelming and it takes to being faux letterpress embossed BEAUTIFULLY! As I was making this card I decided to ink up the inside of the embossing folder with Plum Punch on a whim. It was just sitting there on my desk looking at me and I had to try it. I am so glad it tried it! Now I need to try it with every other color of ink and cardstock, lol. I do have a few tips for you if you decide to do this with Taylor’s gorgeous inks…

Tip 1: Prime the Embossing Folder

As with anything that’s been manufactured there is a bit of residue left from that process and it leaves the plastic a bit slick and not all that receptive of ink. I cleaned my embossing folder first with a bit of Dawn dishsoap (the original blue) and dried it before inking it up and it inked up beautifully.

Tip 2: Clean Up

This embossing folder has a ton of gorgeous detail and that means there are lots of nooks and crannies for ink to hide out. To clean out the embossing folder I used a very small drop of soap, water and a toothbrush. After it was clean I folded a paper towel in half and ran the embossing folder through my die cut machine to dry it and get any remaining ink.

I used Fresh Florals and the coordinating dies for the flowers (these were actually left overs from a previous project). The sentiment is from Free Spirit, stamped in Oreo and die cut with Stitched Banner Stacklets.
