TE May Sneak Peeks: 80’s Birthday!!

It’s here! Taylored Expressions May Release Day!!! Today I have a fun birthday card to share with you! This one is completely inspired by all those days of middle school spent the skating rink listening to Madonna and Cindi Lauper.

To make my card I started by making the brick background layer. I inked up the inside of the Brick Embossing Folder with Flannel Grey ink and used it as a stamp to add the subtle brick lines on the Sugar Cube cardstock. I stamped the paint splotches from Stroke of Genius 2 using Dandelion, Rose Bud and Bahama Blue Memento Ink. I used a heat gun to make sure the ink was dry and prepped the paper with an embossing buddy before heat embossing the sentiment with black embossing powder. I matted the background with Lollipop cardstock and attached it to the Oreo cardbase using foam tape.

Next I die cut all of the skateboard, spray cans and skateboard pieces using Metallic Neutrals cardstock, Lollipop, Lemon Meringue, and Oreo cardstock. I didn’t have any blue cardstock to match the Bahama Blue ink so I inked up a piece of Sugar Cube with Bahama Blue ink and die cut the pieces from that. When all the pieces were assembled I attached them to the card using foam tape. To finish off I die cut some tiny stars from silver glitter paper and added a few to the background and one to the bottom of the skateboard.

I love how this card turned out even if it makes me chuckle a little – it completely reminds me of junior high and the skating rink, lol!
