WFWC19 – A sketch challenge

JenSketchbyJen2I have two posts today! My Burtonesque Dolls card is below… here.

It’s Wednesday and it’s time for another Wild Flower Wednesday Challenge and this week we have a sketch designed by… me! I tried a bit of a new look with this sketch and I loved it in theory when I was designing it and I really do like the way this card came out but I have to tell you… this card tried to kill me. Seriously. It put up a darn good fight.

The tale begins all the way back in December when I colored this lovely snowman to match some very cute My Mind’s Eye Colorful Christmas paper that was just a perfect match for this image. On Christmas day we left our house to go spend a few days with my in-laws at their lake house and I brought some of my stamping stuff with me. We were in a huge hurry as we had 8 inches of snow on the ground and more falling and I was rearranging things in the car and I set my sleeve of Christmas paper on top of the SUV. And you know where this is going don’t you. We drove off and I didn’t give a second thought to that paper. We went to Quik-Trip… still no thought. We got on the highway and my husband gasps and then laughs as he points out the back of the car where a huge rainbow of paper has littered the snow covered highway… all my Christmas paper and a fair amount of brand new cardstock now resided on the highway in a mush of snow and slush. We kept driving without my paper. It’s still not funny yet, lol.

This little snowman has been sitting in my digi stash all colored up with no where to go for a while so tonight when I was starting this card I thought, I’ll use him. It’s about time. I think now I know there was a reason I hadn’t used him. LOL. He’s jinxed. I don’t think I can count the calamity of errors I made while making this card. I cut the card the wrong size to start. I was going to make it an easel card after that but cut the card base in half. The Nesties die left a stain on the image after I cut it. I glued at least four pieces down backwards or upside down. Seriously… I tried as hard as I could to screw this card up to the point that I had to start over but miraculously it ended up being okay, lol.

sketchAnd let me just also throw out there that I have officially learned my lesson… I can not work from my own sketches. It’s just not a good plan. Speaking of sketches… here it is. I tried to stay pretty faithful but had to make a few changes to fit the image… I didn’t have any ovals large enough to fit around the snowman and I moved some of the dots around just to fit the dimensions better.

Here’s a shot of the finished card:

I’m not sure I’m ever going to be able to give this card away, hehe. It’s a bit of a trophy now I think. 😀
